Leo Shiang (Disneyland CM 1989-Present)

I went to go see Leo in February. Although Leo is unable to speak, he is conscience and is able to move his eyes. Leo and his family welcome and appreciate any visitors from the Park. For those of you who were not aware of Leo's situation or did not know the full story, please read on:

Early in 2003, Leo was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia that was deemed to be manageable. On August 14, he went to urgent care comlaining of abdominal pain. No diagnosis was made at that time and he was sent home. Later that night, Leo's parents found him comatose and in septic shock. He went into the hospital for emergency surgery and the prognosis was not good. However, he survived and was fully conscious the next day. He still needed additional surgery to close the wound but it had to wait due to complications. He was transferred to another hospital within his own health insurance carrier's plan and awaited surgery to close the wound. Due to unforseen circumstances, there was a delay in his scheduled surgery date. While waiting for this surgery, Leo aspirated and his heart stopped for an unknown amount of time. He suffers from a closed brain injury to the Basal Ganglia. Due to additional complications and numerous infections, Leo is unable to leave the hospital. Additional surgery is still necessary to 'finish' the original surgery.
